One of today’s Start the Art participants
This week is the last week of our exhibition of the developing expansion proposals. If you haven’t already been down to have a look then do pop in to our Project Space. We’ve received a huge amount of feedback so far, which has been fantastically positive, but would love to hear from as many people as possible.
Our Learning Team have been organising a number of workshops and events to respond to the architectural drawings on display. This morning I joined them for a “Start the Art” session for the under-4s, building cityscapes from cardboard boxes! They are also organising a special day of activities this Saturday between midday and 4pm, where you can take part in a variety of architecture themed workshops. Sessions are free but booking is essential – you can find full details on our website.
We’ve been busy preparing MK Gallery’s Project Space for the exhibition opening of MK Gallery Expansion, a display of floor plans, elevations, sections, visualisations and models sharing current ideas for the gallery’s expansion by 6a architects.
The exhibition, which opens today, runs until Sunday 27 April, and includes a Special Viewing next Thursday 10 April when the Design Team will be on hand to discuss their exciting ideas and answer any questions that you may have.
We look forward to receiving your thoughts on the scheme whilst it is still in development. I will be available during the week, Tuesday to Thursday from 12noon – 5pm and Saturday 26 April 12 – 6pm, for questions and feedback, in addition to gallery staff who will be available throughout the exhibition.
There’s also lots for families to explore this month with our Tuesday Start the Art sessions for children aged under 4 and Saturday Mini Makers for over 5s looking at architecture. We hope that parents and toddlers can join us for the Start the Art on Tuesday 22 April at 11am, where member’s of 6a’s team will be joining the session to learn more about your needs and expectations with the new expanded gallery.
